International Conference on Managing Intellectual Property in Universities
We look forward to welcoming you to Boğaziçi University for an international conference on Managing Intellectual Property in Universities, to be held on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th April 2011, in cooperation with the Turkish Patent Institute.

The venue for the conference has been designated as the historic building of Albert Long Hall which, a lecturer at Boğaziçi University, Professor John Freely describes as follows:

The building was designed by Alfred Hamlin, son of Cyrus Hamlin, founder and first president of Robert College. It was built of blue limestone quarried on the campus out of which the same stone from which the Rumeli Hisarı fortress and Hamlin Hall were built. Work began in 1890 and was completed the following year, the first major new building on the campus since the dedication of Hamlin Hall in 1871. (Historic Buildings on the South Campus, p. 10, Boğaziçi University, Stil Printing House, Istanbul, 2005)

The conference brings together internationally and nationally distinguished participants and policy makers with particular expertise in the fields of R&D and the management of intellectual property rights in universities and specialised research institutions as well as the industry.

In keeping with the general theme of the conference, two special ancillary events are to be held with the generous assistance and contribution of two of the collaborating partners, the Ankara Patent Bureau and Licensing Executives Society (LES) Turkey.

  • During the course of the conference, on 14th and 15th April, a two-day 'Patents and Inventions Exhibition' shall be hosted in the foyer on the ground floor of Albert Long Hall by courtesy of the Ankara Patent Bureau.
  • On Saturday, 16th April, LES Turkey shall offer a free of charge one day course, entitled, "Basic Licensing Course", to candidates who have duly registered in advance. As numbers are strictly limited to 30 participants at most, early registration is strongly advised.

Please note that although attendance at the conference is free of charge, registration is essential as places are limited. Delegates who should like to attend are therefore requested to kindly register for the conference through the on-line registration process on this website.

We hope that you have a pleasant journey to Istanbul.
With best wishes,

The Conference Organisation Committee
